THE TOUR OF THE VILLAGE
The "Tour of the Village" is a charming short-distance route that surrounds the medieval village of Montegrimano Terme, following an ancient historical trail once used before the arrival of paved roads to connect the village with the surrounding hamlets. History and Restoration of the Path Originally, when there were neither automobiles nor paved roads, Monte Grimano Terme could be reached from the hamlets of San Donato, Ca'Manente, and Ca'Mazza through this trail, immersed in the forest. Thanks to the work of the volunteers from Bike-Advisor, the path was restored and reopened in 2022, bringing back to light a communication route that is an integral part of the area's history. Technical Features of the Trail Length: Approximately 2 kilometers Type: Loop surrounding the village Usage: Better suited for trekking than for MTB, due to the presence of a fairly steep descent and ascent Recommended direction: Clockwise Detailed Route Starting Point: Unità d'Italia Gardens in Monte Grimano Terme Access to the trail is through a wooden gate located in the Gardens. Historical and Cultural Significance The restoration of the "Tour of the Village" represents an important project for enhancing the local historical heritage. This trail is not just a hiking route, but a true time machine that allows you to walk along the same paths once used by the village's inhabitants in past centuries. The presence of the centuries-old oak, the small religious chapel, and the dry stone walls are testimonies to the rural life and social structure of the area before modernization. The trail passes through what was the ancient settlement of San Donato, one of the historical hamlets that surrounded the main village of Monte Grimano. The "Tour of the Village" is an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself in nature and local history, following a short route that tells the story of centuries of mountain life and the connections between the scattered communities of the Montefeltro region.
Experiences

A journey through art, history, and local traditions.

A Leap into History: The Medieval Charm of the Old Village and the Imposing Civic Tower
Walking through the cobbled streets of the historic center of Monte Grimano Terme is like taking a journey back in time. The village, whose name origin Mons Germanus is linked to the nearby Monte Tassi castle, almost a 'twin brother,' preserves an intact medieval atmosphere that envelops the visitor. Every stone, every corner, tells centuries of history, from the first Roman evidence, through the rule of the Carpegna and Montefeltro families—with notable figures such as Federico da Montefeltro, who in the 15th century freed the castle from the siege of the Malatesta—to its integration into the Papal States and, finally, the Kingdom of Italy.
Routes and Itineraries
In Monte Grimano Terme, History is inseparably intertwined with Nature. The village and its hamlets rest in an unspoiled environment nestled between the slopes of Mount San Paolo and Mount San Lorenzo. This landscape of forests, pastures, and ancient medieval paths offers dozens of ideal routes for MTB, trekking, and gravel biking. The area is also a point of reference for the sports world, regularly hosting events and gatherings. Monte Grimano Terme can position itself as "the ultimate bike-friendly village of the Marche", where the association's infrastructure (Bike Advisor) ensures professional standards that are lacking in many competing areas. The key is to integrate sports, culture, and services into memorable and repeatable experiences.
Delights of the Palate: A Journey Through the Authentic Flavors of Monte Grimano Terme
No journey is complete without a dive into the local flavors, and Monte Grimano Terme is no exception. The local cuisine is an authentic expression of the area, a story told through genuine ingredients, recipes passed down through generations, and a deep connection with rural traditions. Typical Products: The undisputed king of the table is the prized black truffle, which elevates many dishes and represents one of the area's culinary treasures. Alongside this gem of the land, the local cuisine celebrates the robust flavors of meat-based dishes. A special place is reserved for homemade pasta, rigorously rolled out "with the rolling pin," and preparations featuring game and fresh mushrooms—specialties that can be enjoyed, for example, at Trattoria La Caveja.
